W 7/6 at St. Paul L 4-5 21-47 Gus Schmelz resigns as manager.  Count Campau, who was captain, is released according to Minneapolis Tribune.  Treasurer Clarence Saulpaugh will accompany the team on its road trip and between him and the new captain the expense of a manager will be saved.  Campau, though reported as released, is still with the team as it starts its road trip but later ends up with the Saints.  Eventually, third-baseman Charles Reilly becomes manager and, by July 24, replaced by Walter Wilmot.
