Th 8/13 at Duluth L 2-28 52-44 Milwaukee 59-35, Omaha 46-36, Minneapolis 52-44 (although the newspaper standings now show the Millers with 58 wins and a record of 58-44 for a percentage of .542 (even though a .542 percentage would correspond to a 52-44 record).
On Friday, August 14, Milwaukee was playing at home, leading Sioux City 4-1, when it left in the middle of the seventh inning to go to St. Louis to play in the American Association, which just approved it to replace the Cincinnati team, with Milwaukee assuming Cincinnati's record in the American Association.  Sioux City is declared a winner by forfeit over Milwaukee, which leaves the Western Association with a 59-36 record.  This leaves Minneapolis, with a record of 52-44, in first place, ahead of Omaha, which is 46-38.
W 8/19 Sioux City L 7-8 52-45
Minneapolis (in first place), Duluth, and Lincoln fold, leaving Sioux City (52-46) in first place.  The Milwaukee team of the American Association came to Minneapolis to play a series against Columbus October 1-3.  However, because of rain and cold, only one game was played.  On Friday, October 2, Milwaukee beat Columbus 5-0 at Athletic Park behind a 6-hitter behind former Minneapolis pitcher Frank "Red" Killen.  Until 1961, this was the only major league game played in Minnesota.  (The nine games played by the St. Paul team in the Union Association in 1884 were all on the road.)
